This is sputtered mess of a thought.  Philosophical drivel, only meant to entertain or stimulate those who would stumble across it.  I'm certainly not foolish enough to believe I'm the first to consider this - If you know of or find something similar about the 'net, please send me a note.  This train of thought is inspired by a previous, lengthy debate amongst a group of varied and enthusiastic people.  I don't consider these words of wisdom, merely part of the conclusion drawn from our yammerings.  I've only written it out specifically for one person, but I hope it inspires anyone, or further discussion comes of it.

With every second the clock counts, no, every yoctosecond (yocto-!) that passes, you are a different person from who you were before.  This is an inevitability.

With each passing unit of time that passes, your atoms (and even smaller units of mass and existence) are configured in at least slightly, sometimes greatly, different ways.  Perhaps only having moved yoctometers, but having moved in some way.  Given the Earth's rotation, and the universe's observed expansion, though, it's certain that you definitely won't occupy the same location with each passing frame of time.

Imagine yourself sitting down to dinner with your family, shoveling the first bite of food into your mouth.  It's delicious.  Your favorite food.  So good you can't help but smile.
Now rewind this moment 15 seconds prior, and insert a stranger's voice.  One that whispers into your ear, "The food is poisoned."
And in that moment, you are a different person than you having not heard anything.  Every thought you have makes you a different person from the instance before.  Even a genetically-perfect clone, a molecularly-exact copy of person is still not that person.

What significance does pointing this out serve?  It also serves as evidence, and a reminder.  Evidence that you can't ever be the person you used to be.  Because with every passing frame of time, you are different, again and again.  And as reminder to never waste time thinking who you used to be or what would be, differently.  You already have an infinite number of futures to consider.

(Additionally, I hope this helps settle anyone's worries that they may be assassinated in their past - The simple fact that you weren't killed in your past serves as a concrete barrier preventing your un-existence, as any attempts to change your past would simply occur in realities different than you own.  I sorely hope someone's finding this as amusing as we did.  'Cause I know a lot of people are very concerned about being assassinated by time-traveling mercenaries, androids and the like.)
Saving the world, one character at a time.
